Proximity Award to Ebby Gerry

Elbridge T. "Ebby" Gerry Jr., a director of the Hambletonian Society and president of the Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame, has been voted the Proximity Award by the membership of the U.S. Harness Writers Association.

Gerry is already a member of the Living Hall of Fame, having been voted into that pantheon in 1994. He has earned this year�s Proximity Award, for outstanding lifetime contributions to harness racing. Under Gerry�s stewardship, the Hall of Fame has grown steadily with new, wide-ranging, and interesting exhibits.

Gerry is among the principals of the Arden Homestead Stable, which has been associated with his family for four generations and which was voted �Stable of the Century� by Hoof Beats magazine in 2001, with Titan Hanover, Flirth, Me Maggie and Kick Tail among its stars. He has participated in the Billings Amateur Driving Series since its inception 26 years ago, and is a Director of the Delvin Miller Amateur Driving Association, which operates the Billings competition.

Gerry has been a director of the Hambletonian Society since 1965, and currently serves as First Vice-President. Gerry is a partner in the New York City private bank Brown Brothers Harriman & Company.

Gerry will be honored by the Harness Writers Association at its annual awards banquet at Dover Downs on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008.
