Put On A Show does just that in Bluegrass

Put On A Show did just that in the first of three divisions of the $378,900 Bluegrass for 2-year-old filly pacers Wednesday afternoon at The Red Mile, stretching her unbeaten streak to six with a 1:51.4 effort for driver Jody Jamieson. The time equals the national season's mark for a first-year pacing filly.

Jamieson was third-over with Put On A Show heading into the final turn and then second-over as Casino Nights and Tim Tetrick cleared the top. But Put On A Show rallied down the stretch and then was able to hold off Siri Hanover and Ron Pierce to gain the victory. Casino Nights held for third.

A daughter of Rocknroll Hanover, Put On A Show is out of the Artsplace mare Stienam's Place, making her a half sister to recent Jugette winner Showherthemoney. Chris Ryder trains the winner for owners Richard Young and Craig Henderson. For Henderson, Put On A Show is the first horse he has ever shared ownership of.

"It's unbelievable, I'm living the dream here," said Henderson, who at one time years ago owned a small share of Thoroughbred racehorses. "Richard was nice enough to let me invest with him in this horse and we've had great fun together. She's an amazing filly and we're very lucky.

Dave Palone took full advantage of post one with Higher And Hgher in the second Bluegrass split, leading gate to wire to win in 1:53.4. The daughter of Western Terror needed all of a final quarter of :26.2 to earn her third win in five starts, holding off Skinny Dip and John Campbell, with Artcam third for Tetrick.

Tracy Brainard trains the winner for owner Bulletproof Enterprises. Her two prior wins came in the elims for the She's A Great Lady and Three Diamonds, where she finished second and eighth in the finals, respectively.

The third Bluegrass division went to a game You See LA, who was moved to the lead approaching the final turn and then rebuffed the first-over challenge of Western Moonlight to score in a career-best 1:52.4. Mike Lachance drove the winning daughter of The Panderosa for trainer Bob McIntosh.

Cool Jazz made a stretch bid for driver John Campbell to take second, with One Last Kiss and Ron Pierce third.

Owned by Robert McIntosh Stables, CSX Stables and Al McIntosh Holdings, You See LA now has four wins and four seconds in eight starts to bring her earnings to more than $179,000.
