World champion 5-year-old pacing mare Put On A Show won her 12th race of the year on Wednesday afternoon at Harrah's Philadelphia, capturing a $50,000 Open in wire-to-wire fashion in 1:51.1 for driver Brian Sears. Also on the card, Empire Breeders Classic and Lady Maud champion Bettor B Lucky scored in 1:52.2 in a $17,000 conditioned event for driver Yannick Gingras.
Put On A Show started from post seven in Wednesday's Open and Sears had his charge on top by the opening quarter of :27. Holding a two-length advantage over her seven rivals through fractions of :54.3 and 1:22.4, the 3-5 favorite Put On A Show closed out her 1 1/2-length win over runner-up Ooh Bad Shark with a final quarter of :28.2. Royal Cee Cee N was 3 1/2 lengths behind in third.
After tying up during her start against her male peers in the $500,000 Breeders Crown Open Pace Oct. 27 at Woodbine Racetrack, Put On A Show finished a late-closing third in an Open Pace Nov. 16 at Yonkers Raceway after starting from post eight. Her Philadelphia win was her second start since her Crown attempt, bringing her seasonal earnings to $494,403 for trainer Chris Ryder and owners Richard Young, Joanne Young and Craig Henderson. Overall, the daughter of Rocknroll Hanover has 31 wins in 49 starts and $2,387,878 in earnings. Her 1:47.3 win in the Lady Liberty on Aug. 4 at the Meadowlands is the fastest mile ever by a female pacer.
As for Bettor B Lucky, Gingras had the 3-year-old daughter of Bettor's Delight on top for every call as she won for the seventh time in 19 starts this year for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and William J. Donovan. Her 2012 earnings now stand at $483,298 with a career bankroll of $602,315.
