World record holder Put On A Show, with Jody Jamieson doing the steering, took command turning for home and put away a classy group of pacing mares while taking the $100,000 A Spring Of Hope Invitational on Saturday at Mohawk Racetrack. Rocklamation rocketed to the front from post 10, taking the elite field through an opening quarter in :26.2 and a half in 55. Meanwhile, Put On A Show, a daughter of 2004 Metro winner Rocknroll Hanover, was sitting a perfect third as the 3-2 choice until moving to collar the pacesetter as the three-quarters was reached in 1:22. She then coasted to the wire to score by 2 1/2 lengths over Anndrovette, with Monkey On My Wheel third in 1:48.3. Rocklamation faded to fourth.
It was the 29th career win for Put On A Show, who missed all of last year, following a 3-year-old campaign which saw her take 12 of 16 outings, including the Breeders Crown, and more than $1.1 million.
This year, the bay 5 year old had won nine of 16 entering the Invitational, including a world record performance in the Aug. 4 Lady Liberty at the Meadowlands, when clocking a 1:47.3 mile.
With the $50,000 pot, Put On A Show's career bankroll has now passed the $2.3 million mark for trainer Chris Ryder and owners Craig Henderson and Richard and Joanne Young. (WEG)
