Millionairess Put On A Show made her first start on Canadian soil in over a year and a half a winning one, pacing to a 1:50 victory Friday night in the $42,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Woodbine Racetrack.
Put On A Show and driver Jody Jamieson started from post one and settled into fourth position while Voelz Hanover and Mario Baillargeon fired to command and put up early fractions of :26.4 and :55. As the mares raced down the backstretch, Put On A Show made her move and surged ahead as they passed three-quarters in 1:22.4. The 4-5 favorite then opened up two lengths into the stretch before hitting the wire in 1:50 flat. Modern Connection and Scott Zeron came on for second while Voelz Hanover settled for third.
The victory was the first in four starts this season for Put On A Show, who did not race in 2011 due to an injury she sustained while training back for her 4-year-old campaign. The now 5-year-old daughter of Rocknroll Hanover has 20 wins in 29 career starts for owners Richard Young and Craig Henderson. Chris Ryder trains the mare.
