Qualifiers at Indiana fair

To spark interest and awareness of harness racing in the state of Indiana, which kicks off its 2005 season on April 2 at Hoosier Park, a special set of qualifiers will be held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Saturday, April 2. The session will take the place of the qualifiers normally held at Hoosier Park.



"These special qualifiers are going to be held at the State Fairgrounds in conjunction with the Hoosier Horse Fair," said Kevin Mack, Hoosier Park's director of operations and Standardbred racing. "We hope to get more interest in racing. One hour before and one hour after the qualifiers, there will be a special presentation on Standardbreds in the grandstand."



The special qualifying session will begin at 11 a.m. The qualifiers will include an announcer, starting gate, photo finish, judges, and electronic timer. Entries for the qualifiers will be taken at Hoosier Park.
