Quantum Lightning won the fastest of two $39,863 divisions of the Standardbred Stake for 2-year-old colt trotters Thursday afternoon at the Delaware, Ohio, fairgrounds, while Kentucky Wildcat checked in first in the second split.

Brad Hanners was in the sulky behind Quantum Lightning, who scored a career-best 1:58 victory. Defend The Rock and Ron Pierce were second, with Telephoto K and Dave Palone third.

The win was the fourth of the year in eight starts, and along with three-second place finishes increases his earnings to more than $115,000. Jeff Smith trains the winning son of Like A Prayer for owners Terry and Cynthia Kinsley.

Kentucky Wildcat notched his first win in eight starts as he scored a 2:00 victory for Peter Wrenn. Kyle Bolon gave a sharp steer along the pylons behind longshot North Broadway--who was coming off only starts on the Pennsylvania fair circuit--to a second-place finish, with My D Sammy and Jimmy Smith third.
