Queen Serene cruises

Queen Serene took an early lead and cruised to a 1:57 victory by 2 ˝ lengths over Velma K in the $330,476 Hudson Trot final at Yonkers Raceway Saturday night. The victory by Queen Serene ended the 10-race win streak by Hidden Viggorish, who spoiled her chances by going off stride in the first turn.

Queen Serene, who had the outside post eight, charged down the backstretch the first time and was in the lead by the :29.4 quarter. From there the Dream Vacation lass was untouchable, cutting fractions of :58.3 and 1:27.4 before edging away from the pocket-sitting Velma K and Stephan Bouchard. Spellyuptothebar and Pat Berry were third.

This was the fourth straight victory and eighth in 18 starts this year for Queen Serene, owned by Timo H. Yi Panula and trained by driver Trond Smedshammer. She has earnings this year of $559,795 and her career bankroll stands at $626,322.
