Due to the blizzard preparing to descend upon the greater New York and New Jersey areas, the Meadowlands and Yonkers Raceway have cancelled live racing and all simulcasting for Friday, Feb. 8. Canada has not been spared by Winter Storm Nemo as Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, The Raceway at The Western Fair District and Flamboro Downs have also canceled their Friday night live programs.
At the Meadowlands, the first leg of the Junior Trendsetter series, originally scheduled for Friday’s card, is rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 15. Horsemen should note that the card will be redrawn. The Winners Bayonne off-track wagering facility will also be closed Friday for simulcasting.The track and Winners are scheduled to re-open for simulcasting on Saturday at 11 a.m; however guests should check MeadowlandsRacetrack.com for updates. Live racing is expected to resume Saturday, Feb. 9, at 7:15 p.m. and features the Exit 16W Series.
Yonkers is completely dark for all racing-related activities. Horsemen are advised that there is no draw Friday, with a double-draw for next Thursday/Friday (Feb. 14 & 15) taking place Monday (Feb. 11). Entry box for both days closes at 4 PM.Live racing (and evening simulcasting) is scheduled to resume Saturday (Feb. 9), as is Aqueduct (and afternoon simulcasting), weather permitting. Further updates shall be made if/when warranted.As of this writing, the casino is planning to operate with its normal schedule (9 AM-4 AM). Again, further updates if/when available.
