Longtime Canadian horseman Randy Kerr died Wednesday night at the age of 51 as a result of lung cancer. Kerr, the younger brother of horseman Terry Kerr, drove 3,671 winners over his career and earned more than $14.7 million in purses. Mr. Kerr was diagnosed with lung cancer just over a year ago and since that time benefits and an online auction raised more than $90,000 to help with his treatment. Mr. Kerr worked for his father, Palmer, and brother, Terry, while as a teenager, and began his driving career at the age of 18 at Western Fair Raceway. He and Terry moved to Windsor Raceway a few years later, going on his own in 1980 with one of the two pacers he owned at the time, Boxer Brad.
