The 8-year-old trotter Guy Gets Girl extended his winning streak to three on Wednesday when capturing the featured $15,500 winners over handicap trot at Pompano Park in 1:56.4 over a track listed as "sloppy" following an afternoon of showers in South Florida.

Driven from post six by owner-trainer Bruce Ranger, Guy Gets Girl was handled aggressively off the gate, muscling his way to the front to take control of the Wednesday feature while cutting out fractions of :28.3, :58.3, and 1:27.1.

The son of Keystone Nordic entered the stretch with a 1 1/4-length advantage and was never threatened down the lane, sprinting away from his foes in the final yards to prevail by 2 3/4 lengths at the wire.

Guy Gets Girl returned $2.80, $2.80, $2.60 for the victory. Rovasreadytorumble (Wally Hennessey) paid $4, $6.40 for second, while O-Georgie (Daryl Bier) brought in $3.60 for third.

The Wednesday victory by Guy Gets Girl was the gelding’s third consecutive trip to the winner’s circle, and fourth straight triumph overall at Pompano Park. In each of those winning performances, the 8-year-old had the lead at every call.

Guy Gets Girl has now tallied six victories from 14 seasonal starts, and owns a lifetime bankroll of $277,911.

A trio of Florida-bred juvenile trotters won the first race of their career on Wednesday as Pompano Park hosted three $1,000 non-wagering events prior to the start of its 12-race Independence Day program.

The first non-wagering race for 2-year-old trotters was taken by Waving Glory, who scored in 2:09.2 for driver-trainer Jay Sears, who co-owns the filly with Kim Sears.

Indigo Swirl captured the second juvenile trot of the day in 2:10 for owner-trainer Joseph Kroll and driver Mickey McNichol, while the final non-wagering event was taken by Famous Image, who prevailed in 2:09.2 in his second career appearance for Amante Standardbreds Inc., trainer Gordon Norris, and driver Walter Ross Jr. (Pompano Park)
