Rankin hurt at Western Fair

The stewards at Western Fair Raceway declared the 10th race Monday night "no contest" after a multi-horse spill that killed one horse and sent driver Donnie Rankin Jr. to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

It was Rankin's horse, First Toy, who was euthanized due to the severity of injuries suffered in the accident, which occurred after the quarter pole. The other horses involved, JM Hannibal, Getting Lucky and Sand Jake, as well as the other drivers, all walked away without any major injuries.
