Spring Ray, a 6-year-old son of Gentle Star out of a mare by Mr. Drew, won at the Solvalla racetrack in Stockholm Wednesday night and earned an invitation to the Elitlopp with his 1:54.4 victory.

Straightup, who was coming off of an impressive performance in Naples, was the early leader, but he was used twice to take command and faded. Two-time Elitlopp champion Victory Tilly started from post eight and spotted the field early in the race. He finished second but was beaten six or seven lengths by Spring Ray.

Bjorn Goop, who drives Spring Ray, will have his choice of three horses for the Elitlopp. He also drives Conny Nobell and Thai Tanic, whose connections have already accepted invitations to the race.
