Pompano Park adds Mondays to its winter schedule beginning today. The track will now be open for live racing and poker four days a week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

The first Monday program will feature a $10,000 Open Handicap Trot in the sixth race headlined by recent winner Muscular. The 6-year-old stallion by Muscles Yankee starts from post seven and last week scored his ninth victory of the year for owner-trainer-driver Dave Mercer of Springfield, Ill.

Last week Muscular was able to kick in a :28.3 final quarter mile to close from fifth at the top of the stretch to win the Open Handicap by three-quarters of a length in 1:56.2.

Also entered off victories are U Toe The Bike and Degree of Guilt. U Toe The Bike starts from post three for driver Daryl Bier and last week was able to lead from start to finish in 1:58 for his ninth win of the year. Degree Of Guilt starts from the rail for owner-trainer-driver Robert Hoffman of Coconut Creek and last week closed well in the stretch to post his fifth win of the year with a 1:59 triumph.

The 5-2 morning-line favorite is Battleshoe Victor from the Tom Harmer Stable. He started from post eight last week against Muscular and had to rough it out on the outside first-over, gaining the lead by the top of the stretch but faded towards the finish and was third.

Muscle Boss Vita, who was second last week to Muscular, suffering his first defeat in his last three starts, goes from post four for trainer-driver Veral Bowman. Rounding out the field are Guy Gets Girl (post two), Talk About Me (post six) and newcomer Horby Hunter (post eight). (Pompano Park)
