Real Heart splashed her way to victory in the single $25,000(C) division in the second leg of the Princess Pacing Series for 3-year-old filly pacers on a wet opening night of the summer meet Thursday night at Mohawk Racetrack.

Heavy rains left the Campbellville oval rated two seconds off as the fillies lined up behind the gate for the night's fourth race. With Chris Christoforou in the bike, Real Heart got away sixth in the field of seven and sat patiently through the first half of :57.1. The daughter of Real Desire-Hornby Heart worked her way up to fourth on the outside as the field reached the third marker in 1:26.

As they turned for home, Christoforou sent his filly three wide and she was able to overhaul the pacesetting Grin Goddess. The only concern in the late going was a hard-charging Bath Beach who ultimately fell 1 1/2 lengths short at the finish. It was another seven lengths back to Grin Goddess who held the show spot. The winner returned $24.60 for the victory.

It was the third win in 10 starts this season for Real Heart who is trained by Blair Burgess for father Robert and wife Karin Olsson. The lion's share of the purse increased her bankroll to $37,671.

The $77,000(C) Princess Series final will go postward next Thursday night, May 7, at Mohawk. (WEG)
