Rebeka Bayama entered the Mohawk Racetrack history books tonight as she set a new stakes record in the Town Pro Pacing Series final and equaled the Mohawk Racetrack track record for three-year-old pacing fillies with a 1:49.4 winning performance. Rebeka Bayama established early command from post seven but then allowed longshot Keene Supreme to clear to the front at the quarter in :26. Rebeka Bayama then re-took command through fractions of :53.4 and 1:22 and used a :27.4 final quarter to win by over a length. Longshot Northwest Hanover finished second and Seriously completed the triactor. Rebeka Bayama joins millionaire and Ontario Sire Stakes graduate Shacked Up with her victory while increasing her career earnings to just shy of $40,000. She paid $4.70 for the win. The daughter of Leader Bayama swept the series for trainer Yves Filion and his Bayama Farms in Quebec while his son Sylvain handled the driving. “She was really aggressive tonight because she was hitting the race bike. I was a little concerned when I saw the half-mile timer in :53.4. I knew we were going fast so I wasn’t surprised by her 1:49.4 performance,” Sylvain Filion commented in the winners circle. Yves Filion once again stated that his charge will earn some much deserved rest. “The plan is still to turn her out. I will bring her back in October to prepare her for later stakes in the year. She isn’t eligible to anything because she is Quebec bred. I will turn her out because I know next year she has the potential to be a top level mare here on the WEG cicuit,” Yves Filion stated in his post race interview. (WEG)
