The Red Mile, which was scheduled to race its first Saturday night card of the 2007 fall meet this Saturday, has canceled that program due to insufficient entries. Although the entry box has been overflowing since the track in Lexington, Ky., opened in early August, only approximately 50 horses were entered for the card.
The Red Mile has been racing Thursday, Sunday and Monday nights, with as many as 18 or 20 races on a few programs. The Red Mile races Thursday and then with Saturday card's axed it will re-open for live racing on Sunday, Sept. 16, again on Monday, Sept. 17, and then after two dark days return to action on Thursday, Sept. 20, and continue through Grand Circuit action, culminating in Kentucky Futurity day on Saturday, Oct. 6.
