Red Star Hottie continued her dominance of elite distaff pacers at The Meadows as she easily captured Tuesday’s $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap. Away third, Red Star Hottie made the decisive quarter-pole move to the lead for Dave Palone and was not seriously challenged thereafter. The 2-5 favorite prevailed in 1:51.4 for her fourth victory in the last five starts — all since adding Lasix. Spring Break was a length back in second, with the first-over Natalie third. Ron Burke trains Red Star Hottie, a 5-year-old daughter of As Promised-Whitehorse Fever who triumphed for the 20th time in 48 career outings, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
