Redzilla was the longest shot on the board in Wednesday's seventh race at Scioto Downs, but someone apparently forgot to tell him. The 5-year-old gelding was parked the mile from post nine and still got up to win by 2 1/4 lengths in 2:01. He was sent off at odds of 41-1 while the runner-up, TK's Lizziebeth, went to post at 25-1 odds. Autumn's Punkin set all the pace and led into the final quarter, but then faded badly and finished eighth in the 10-horse field. Favored Maggie J Maggness never got into the race from her post 10 position and finished sixth. Redzilla is a son of Stock Angler and is owned by Mary A. Cox. He's trained and driven by Bill Irvine. It was the third win of the year for the chestnut gelding who has trotting blood on the male side of his pedigree and pacing blood on his female side. It's no surprise then that Stock Angler had competed on both the trot and the pace, but he's done far better as a trotter. The 2-year-old pacer Really Rockin (Allamerican Native-Star Of The Future) scored in 1:59.3 for trainer Ron Potter and driver Bob Harper. He sprinted to the lead after a slow second quarter and won by 2 1/2 lengths. Scioto will host Ohio Sire Stakes on Independence Day with a 1 p.m. post time. (Scioto Downs)
