Buck I St. Pat, the 2008 Trotting Mare of the Year, scored her first win since suffering a tendon injury in the $27,500 Preferred Mare trot Friday night at the Meadowlands.

With Tim Tetrick at the lines, Buck I St. Pat brushed to the lead on the final turn and drew off to a five-length victory in 1:54.1. She trotted her final quarter in a dazzling :26.3, in just her second start off an eight-month layoff. She paid $4.40 to win. Falls For You and Stage Show were the respective second and third-place finishers.

After winning the $105,000 Perretti Matchmaker Stake on July 12, 2008 at the Meadowlands, Buck I. St Pat suffered a tendon injury that kept her sidelined until last month. Despite her abbreviated campaign, she secured divisional honors with a record of 10 wins in 14 starts and earnings in excess of $400,000. She qualified in 1:55.3 on March 26 and returned to the racetrack with a third-place finish in the Classic Series April 6 at Dover Downs.

The 6-year-old millionairess has now won 32 of 58 career starts for trainer Ron Burke and owners Ron Fuller, Howard Taylor, Edwin Gold and Abe Basen. (Meadowlands)
