According to a study made on the impact of slot machines at the Meadowlands, Freehold and Monmouth Park in New Jersey, purses would more than double but business at the Atlantic City casinos and New Jersey Lottery sales would suffer. The results of the study were printed in Tuesday’s Asbury Park Press after the newspaper filed an Open Publics Records Act request.

According to the report, New Jersey purses would increase $52 million annually from the proposed 6,300 slot machines at the three racetracks, more than double the $21.5 million the trio of facilities had received each of the past four years from the Atlantic City casinos—an agreement that expires this year.  The report also stated revenue at the Atlantic City casinos would decline by $80.5 million annually and that lottery sales would have a drastic drop of $460 million.
