Hoosier Park Racing & Casino has announced the resignation of Rick Moore as general manager of racing after 14 years of service. Moore's last day will be September 12.
“We thank Rick for his countless contributions to Hoosier Park through the years. He has been a strong ambassador on our behalf and a tireless community leader. We wish him much continued success,” said Centaur Chairman Rod Ratcliff.
Under Moore’s guidance, Hoosier Park established premiere national marquee events such as the Dan Patch Invitational Pace and the Hoosier Cup on the Standardbred side of racing and the Grade II Indiana Derby and Indiana Oaks on the Thoroughbred side. Moore is past chairman of the Anderson and Madison County Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Anderson Fine Arts Center.
“I very much enjoyed my time with Hoosier Park and am extremely proud of our numerous accomplishments," said Moore. "As I embark on the next phase of my career, I am thankful for the many friendships forged during my tenure, and I will look back with many fond memories.”
Jeff Smith will assume the role of general manager of racing at Hoosier Park, while continuing his role as Centaur’s Managing Director of Racing. He served as president of Hoosier Park since its inception through 2001. Prior to joining Centaur in 2001, Smith spent 18 years in key management positions with Churchill Downs, including president of Churchill Downs Management Co. as well as Ellis Park.
