The nominations are in for the 2008 Tioga & Vernon Downs Empire Breeders Classic, and they include Riggins, the 2007 New York Sire Stakes 2-Year-Old Pacing Colt, and the runner-up in the division, Share The Delight.
A total of 34 colts have been nominated to the 3-Year-Old Colt Pace.
Kissing Bandit and Artimittateslife lead the nominees in the 3-Year-Old Pacing Filly division. A wildcard in the division could come in the form of Arts Diva, has a lifetime best of 1:53.1 and more than $250,000 in earnings.
The 3-year-old trotting colts are highlighted by Ace High Hall. He will look to improve upon his third-place finish in the 2007 NY Sire Stakes final.
The Empire Breeders Classic is a series of races designed to reward New York breeders and kick off the New York Sire Stakes. The elimination races will be held on Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18. The finals will be matinee races held on Sunday, May 25, and Monday, May 26. There will be a free barbeque for horsemen following the races for all Classic participants.
