Rivalry renewed at PPk

June 01, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

My Metallica and Tintabella N, separated by a half-length in their most recent encounter, will renew acquaintances at Pompano Park on Friday when starting in the featured $15,500 Fillies and Mares Winners-Over Pace.

My Metallica enters the Friday feature with victories in two of her last four starts, including last week’s triumph over Tintabella N where she prevailed in 1:53.3 while covering the final quarter mile in :27.4.

Prior to that winning performance, My Metallica had checked in second behind Tintabella N in successive starts, and in late April the Tom Harmer trained daughter of Party At Artsplace was an upset winner when scoring by a neck at odds of 16-1.

Listed as the second choice in the morning line at odds of 5-2, My Metallica will start from post six with Wally Hennessey at the controls for the ownership of Ciara Stable, Michael Polansky, and William Johnston III.

Installed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite for the Friday feature is Tintabella N, who had a four-race winning streak snapped in her last start when crossing the wire second, beaten a half-length by My Metallica.

Owned by Glenn Del Russo and Daryl Bier, Tintabella N has visited the winner’s circle in six of her last eight outings, including a seasonal best victory in 1:53 on May 4.

Tintabella N has drawn the inside post for Friday’s pace, and the Gus Scarpias-trained daughter of Tinted Cloud will be driven by co-owner Bier.

Knockout Stable’s Wilma Hall will attempt to upend My Metallica and Tintabella N when returning for the Friday feature after finishing third to that pair in her most recent appearance.

The 6-year-old daughter of Blissfull Hall is the fastest female pacer in the 43-year history of Pompano Park with a 1:51.3 mile in November of last year, but has just two victories during her current campaign and enters Friday’s feature on an eight-race skid.

Wilma Hall starts from post two with trainer Jim McDonald at the lines.

Rounding out the field for Friday’s $15,500 Fillies and Mares Winners Over Pace is Cape Cove Daisy, who has finished second in two of her last three outings; Hyde Park Hussie N, a winner two starts ago in 1:54; Montana Moonlite A, the fourth-place finisher in last week’s female pacing feature; and Icu Miss, a convincing winner in 1:54 in her most recent start

The first 2-year-old qualifying heats of the year at Pompano Park will take place on Friday, with the first two races of the morning scheduled for juvenile pacers.

Among the nine youngsters that will take to the track for the first time is Groovin N Movin, a Florida-bred son of Raging Glory, out of the Incredible Finale mare Incredible Trip, who will start in the morning’s first heat.

Groovin N Movin is a full brother to Diamond Jack, a winner in six of 11 starts during his 2-year-old season while banking $42,857, with victories in several Florida Stallion Stakes events. (Pompano Park)
