Roman Holiday rallied late with a :27.2 final quarter to catch Amazon Clipper and go on to a half-length victory in 1:56.2 in the $44,500 World Series for 3-year-old trotting colts at Hawthorne Thursday night. Also part of Grand Circuit action were a pair of $32,875 World Series divisions for 2-year-old filly trotters.

Driven by Dave Magee, Roman Holiday won for the first time this year. The son of Dream Vacation was a four-time winner in 2005 for trainer Erv Miller. He is owned by H.W. Wright, Donald Coleman and Mystical Marker Farms.

Real Hope won the first World Series split for freshman filly trotters with a 2:00.3 effort for driver D.R. Ackerman and trainer Doug Ackerman. The daughter of SJ’s Caviar-Minnesota Carol is owned by the Doug Ackerman Stables.

The second division went to Fox Valley Smoothy, also from the Magee-Miller team. The full sister to Million Dollar Bye scored by a half-length over Enjoy The Music in 2:04.3. The daughter of Armbro Charger is owned by Dan Waxman’s Vandalay Racing.
