Those accustomed to watching Robin I Scoot compete in Indiana Sires Stakes competition are familiar with his propensity to drift out in the stretch. Monday, Sept. 10 the I Scoot Hanover freshman used every bit of the lane to score a half length victory in the $12,000 second round of ISS action. Earning his eighth victory of the season, the gelding stopped the clock in 1:53.1. Traditionally racing on or near the lead, driver Mike Peterson eased Robin I Scoot out from the second tier to seventh early on as Blueridge Finance and Jimmy Shelton took the point. By the half (:56) Topville Dynamic and Mark O’Mara were out and moving from sixth, bringing the favorite with them. Third over as the field paced out of the final turn, Peterson swept the Dan Perdue-trained gelding four-wide in the lane and went to work. As Robin I Scoot picked up speed he continued to drift wide, reaching the outside fence before hitting the wire. Topville Dynamic finished a close second along the rail while Hoosier Hi Flyer and trainer Andy Shetler were third. Robin I Scoot increased his bankroll to more than $78,000. Bred by Ambalal Patel, the gelding is owned by Perdue and Shady Lane Meadows. Last week in the first round of ISS competition Robin I Scoot set an Indiana Downs track record for freshman geldings, winning in 1:52.1. Previous to that, he established a stakes record en route to winning the $85,000 ISS final August 25.
