The time wasn’t as quick as the week before, but the performance was equally impressive as Robin I Scoot rolled to his second straight victory in the featured $25,000 Invitational Tuesday. Under the direction of leading driver Peter Wrenn, the 4-year-old I Scoot Hanover gelding out stepped Rocket Fuel to the finish line for the victory in 1:51.

Starting from post two, Robin I Scoot slid behind Rocket Fuel at the start, tracking every move he made to the quarter mile marker in :27.4. With no takers on the outside, Robin I Scoot sat patiently as Rocket Fuel continued on through middle fractions of :56.1 and 1:24.

In the stretch, the sprint was on. Robin I Scoot eased up beside Rocket Fuel and the two went to war. Neither horse would give up, all the way to the wire, but Robin I Scoot had the strongest stride this week, winning by a neck with a final panel in :26.3. Roxies Big Guy and Elliott Deaton followed along for third.

“The trip worked out well tonight,” said Wrenn. “I was hoping to draft along as long as I could. He’s the perfect racehorse, even more so in the race. Whatever you want to do, he will do.”

Robin I Scoot is owned by Shady Lane Meadows of Grabill, Ind. Indiana’s 2008 Horse of the Year now has three wins in eight starts for 2009 and increased his career earnings to more than $345,000.

“This is just a super horse to be around,” said Dan Perdue, who trains Robin I Scoot. “He trains good. He has good manners. But when you turn to go, he’s ready to go. This is a family horse too. The entire family enjoys this horse so much. They bring a lot of their family and friends to watch him, which is great to see.” (Hoosier Park)
