Rocknroll Hanover HOY

It's only fitting that in Las Vegas, a city helped made famous by the "King of Rock and Roll" himself--Elvis Presley--Rocknroll Hanover was named 2005 Horse of the Year at harness racing's Night of Stars Awards dinner held Wednesday night at the Bellagio hotel. The 3-year-old son of Western Ideal also garnered Pacer of the Year honors and beat out Trotter of the Year Mr. Muscleman for the E. Roland Harriman Horse of the Year trophy.





Nearly 500 attended the awards dinner held in conjunction with the Racing Congress. Not only did Rocknroll Hanover take home four trophies--Dan Patch 3-Year-Old Colt Pacer, Nova Award, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year--co-owner Jeffrey Snyder was also honored as 2005 Owner of the Year. "In looking back, yes this was the best year I ever had," said Snyder, who also won the 1994 Owner of the Year Award after a year in which he campaigned Horse of the Year Cam's Card Shark.



Rocknroll Hanover, owned by Snyder, Lothlorien Equestrian Center and Perretti Racing Stable and trained by Brett Pelling, won 12 of 18 starts in 2005--including the Meadowlands Pace, North America Cup and Breeders Crown--and $2.23 million in earnings, the third highest in history behind only Gallo Blue Chip and Cam's Card Shark..



Rocknroll Hanover received 124 votes while Mr. Muscleman got 32 and Vivid Photo 21.
