Rocknroll Hanover in 1:51

Rocknroll Hanover left no doubt who is at the top of the sophomore colt pacing class right now as the son of Western Ideal rocked out from his second-over position at the top of the stretch and rolled to a 1:51 victory in the $500,000 SBOA New Jersey Classic at the Meadowlands Saturday night. He was two lengths better than Jo Pa's Shark while Load The Dice made a late move to be third.

From post nine driver Brian Sears settled Rocknroll Hanover sixth while Village Jolt and Jo Pa's Shark swapped leads back and forth through opening fractions of :26.4 and :54.3. Village Jolt was on top at the three-quarters in 1:23.3 but he had Cam's Fool and John Campbell on his outside giving cover to Rocknroll Hanover.

In the lane it was all Rocknroll Hanover as he sprinted to the lead. Eric Ledford backed Jo Pa's Shark out from behind a tiring Cam's Fool and followed the winner to the wire while David Miller and Load The Dice rallied for third.

"He's learning how to come off the pace," understated Sears of Rocknroll Hanover. "He likes passing horses."

The victory was the third in as many starts for the colt owned by Jeffrey Snyder and Phyllis Campbell's Lothlorien Equestrian Center. In 1999 Snyder finished second in the New Jersey Classic with Rocknroll's half brother, Royalflush Hanover, after winning the event in 1994 with Cam's Card Shark, who is the sire of six starters in this year's classic, two of them also owned by Snyder.
