Rock N Roll Heaven rebounded from an unfortunate break in his division of the Burlington on Saturday, June 12 with a winning qualifier on Tuesday, June 15 at Mohawk. The talented sophomore was placed on the judge’s list after his Burlington break and was forced to qualify in order to be able to drop in the box for the North America Cup elims on Saturday, June 19.
In the first qualifier, regular pilot Dan Dube tucked the son of Rocknroll Hanover to the pylons briefly from post two through an opening quarter of :27.1. Brushing to the lead by the half in :57.1, Rock N Roll Heaven and Dube opened up by two as they rolled by the three quarters in 1:25.3 and ultimately won by 3 ½ lengths in 1:52. In the Burlington, trainer Bruce Saunders said the pacer shied away from the half-mile timer which startled him while racing on a very foggy night .
