Roll With Joe warmed up for next Saturday's Cane Pace at Tioga Downs with an easy 1:54.3 victory in a qualifier at Tioga on Friday morning. Trainer Ed Hart was along for the ride as Roll With Joe reeled off splits of :29.2, :58 and 1:25.1 before coasting home a 9 3/4-length winner.
There were just three horses in the qualifier, and at the three-quarter mile marker Roll With Joe was up by 10 lengths after a :27.1 third-quarter panel. Hart said he simply wanted to give "Joe" a tightener with the qualifier.
"It would have been three straight weeks without a race, so that's why I qualified him before the Cane," offered Hart.
Roll With Joe has won four of eight starts this season and has $1.2 million in earnings. He's slated to race in the Cane and then go to Delaware, Ohio, for the Little Brown Jug.--harnessracing.com
