Rose Run Keepsake takes Meadows trot

Return Home
June 28, 2010 Send To A Friend  | Print View

When she launched her quest for the lead, she was 10 lengths behind. By the time Rose Run Keepsake finished her improbable journey on the outside, she was 1-1/2 lengths ahead in capturing Monday’s $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Leaving from post four, Rose Run Keepsake ducked from the gate and found herself eighth at the quarter thanks to a cavalry charge for the lead. Doug Snyder moved the 4-year-old daughter of Armbro Laser-Suchanicegirl just past the quarter, where she picked up live cover from American Pride.

Rose Run Keepsake relentlessly attacked the game early leader, Hawaiianphotograph, and prevailed in 1:55.4. I’m Justa Lady shot the Lightning Lane for second while Hawaiianphotograph saved show.

Randy Bendis trains Rose Run Keepsake, who has 26 victories in 53 career starts for an outstanding win percentage of 49.1, and owns with Diane Novosel, Reed Broadway and James Walton.

Elsewhere on the card, Dawg’s Buddy became the season’s fastest 2-year-old filly pacer on a five-eighths-mile track when she triumphed at first asking in 1:55. Louis Bauslaugh drove the daughter of The Panderosa-Modern Medicine for trainer Brian Brown and Doubledawgdareme LLC.

Dave Palone drove three winners on the 13-race program. (The Meadows)
