September 15, 2008 Send To A Friend  | Print View

In addition to possible appearances by Deweycheatumnhowe and Somebeachsomewhere on the track on Saturday, Sept. 27, the first big weekend of the fall championship meet at The Red Mile will include a fund raiser for the historic Round Barn. The special event will take place on Friday, Sept. 26, beginning at 6:30 pm.

This year’s event, titled “Celebrate the History—Dan Patch,” will include a tribute to the great pacer and a special appearance by Charles Leerhsen, author of the book “Crazy Good: The true story of Dan Patch, the most famous horse in America.”

There will also be a special bourbon tasting by leading Kentucky bourbon producers, a silent auction, an open bar and hors d’oeuvres. Tickets and/or reservations are available at a cost of $75 by contacting Ann-Phillips Mayfield at (859) 619-7122 or by stopping by Fennell's harness shop located near The Red Mile.
