Royalty For Life rebounded off a seventh-place finish in the Colonial Trot to capture Sunday night's $360,000 Harry M. Zweig Memorial for 3-year-old colts at Vernon Downs. Mistery Woman emerged victorious in the companion $150,000 Zweig Memorial for 3-year-old filly trotters.
The Hambletonian champion Royalty For Life left from post 9 in the Zweig for driver Brian Sears and led through fractions of :271, :58 and 1:26 before closing out his mile with a final quarter of :27.1 to win in 1:53.1. Finishing 1 1/2 lengths behind in second was Corky, driven by David Miller, with Pine Credit and Corey Callahan third.
George Ducharme trains Royalty For Life for owners Alfred Ross, Chip Campbell and Paul Fontaine.
Mistery Woman rallied off a second-over trip to win in 1:52.1 for driver Miller. Shared Past and Dave Palone had the lead in deep stretch but were unable to fend off the winner. Frau Blucher and Ron Pierce took third.
Jonas Czernyson trains Mistery Woman for owners Millstream Inc., William Donovan, Misty Miller and Aldeberan Park.
