Rucker's stay extended

Trainer Ken Rucker has received an extension of his stay regarding an aggregate suspension of 180 days and fines totaling $3,000 after having six positives on six different horses for indomethacin in his home state of Illinois. Rucker's stay began Nov. 30 and was to have expired Dec. 30, but it is still currently in effect.



"The Racing Board has extended his stay indefinitely pending further testing," Illinois Racing Board projects manager Mickey Ezzo told harnessracing.com Wednesday afternoon. "Because (Rucker) had so many positives for the same drug we are looking at contamination. We are testing for contamination of feed and things like that, and testing just hasn't been done yet. That's why we've extended the stay."



Rucker had previously received two positives for indomethacin (commonly known by the brand name Indocin) and had paid $3,000 in fines to the Illinois Racing Board for those. Rucker, who races horses in both Illinois and in New Jersey, finished third in 2005 on both the North America trainers' dash list and money list with 318 victories and $3,980,331 in purse earnings.
