Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has signed a bill into law that will allow the new Running Aces Harness Park to simulcast all breeds of horses; currently the site can only simulcast harness races.
According to a press release, Running Aces will still need the approval of the Minnesota Racing Commission to begin offer wagering on Thoroughbreds or Quarter Horses. The track opened Friday, April 11, with its card room opening later this spring once 50 days of live harness racing is conducted.
"We are pleased that this law will permit Running Aces to offer its customers access to races run at the best known horse tracks throughout the country in addition to the thrills of our live racing schedule," said Jim Druck, the CEO of Running Aces' parent company Southwest Casino Corporation, in the release. "We look forward to adding these additional races to the Running Aces entertainment package as soon as we can complete the approval process."
