Rusty is for real in Dover feature

Rusty's For Real, one of four successes by Tim Tetrick, won the week's top event, the $37,500 Delaware Special at Dover Downs on Monday, while Eoos and Print It were each driven to victory by Brian Sears.

In the feature, Rusty's For Real rushed three wide heading to the last turn as Art Director, with Sears, and Fountain Of Youth and Ross Wolfenden battled along the backstretch. Tetrick then directed the Real Artist-sired 4 year old to his second win of the year for Carter Racing Stable. The fast gray, Klondike Kid, closed for Eric Goodell to take second in front of Art Director.

Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta's Eoos put on a strong finish to win the $28,000 Jr. Open pace in the fastest time of the night, a 1:50.3 mile. Kass Hall left with Sears in a :25.4 opening panel and kept the lead until the stretch when Ron Pierce and Eoos picked up the pace from the rear and taxied into the lead as the field headed for home. Eoos the held off Winbak Speed and Brandon Givens to win for the fifth time in 11 starts this meet. Victor Vuitton N was third with Eddie Davis Jr. driving.

In the $25,000 winners-over pace, Print It, with Sears at the controls, poured it on in the stretch to overtake Armbro Baylor and Tony Morgan for a 1:51 victory. White Hot Cards closed from far back for Tetrick to take show money. Print It is owned by Tom Kelly, who managed the Minnesota Twins to two World Series titles.

Brandon Givens drove Charles and Diane Coursey's Northern Scholar into lead at the start of the $22,800 Delaware winners-over pace and after shaking off a challenge from the Tony Morgan-driven Ginfrombeertobeer from the half until the top of the lane pulled away for a 1:51.4 decision. Hot Lather finished second for Goodell after a two-hole trip. Cool Flying Fun with Corey Callahan was another half-length back in third.

Next Flight proved the best in the first of the $21,000 male paces. Jim Morand piloted the Shotgun Scott gelding home in 1:52.2 for Belle Bauman, Henry Faragalli Jr. and III and trainer Del Cote. Cool Cat came on strongly for Sean Bier to finish second beaten a neck. Blue Swimmer A and Roger Plante took third.

Dan and Tom Courtemanche's Bobnoxious won the second $21,000 pace as Tim Curtin rolled along the passing lane to beat front-pacing JA's Outlaw and Tetrick by a nose in 1:52. Skeleton Key with Yannick Gingras in the bike, finished third.

Morgan teamed with Armand Bernard and Arnold Witkin's Saucy Master N for a 1:53 score in a $40,000-$45,000 claiming handicap. JK Jack set the pace with Goodell. Star Drifter N and David Miller finished along the passing lane for third money.

In addition to Tetrick's four wins, Sears had a triple and Morgan a driving double. Owners Ken Wood and Vincent Bradley and trainers Eric Ell, Jeff Whaley and Bobby Clark had two winners each. (Dover Downs)
