Mr Feelgood, the 2006 Little Brown Jug champion and winner of this year's Graduate, Presidential and Isle of Capri events for older pacers, will be heading Down Under once a deal is completed to sell the horse to Australian owners.
Art Zubrod of Brittany Farms, which shares ownership of the 5-year-old stallion with Lindy Farms and John Fodera, said the owners of Mr Feelgood are awaiting payment for the horse.
Top New Zealand trainer Tim Butt flew to Kentucky last week to complete the sale details.
According to Tim's brother Anthony Butt, the horse's fertility tests were a part of the negotiation process. "When you're paying huge money for a horse like this, part of the value is as stallion when he's finished racing," Anthony Butt said.
However, the Butts hope the breeding barn is still at least two years away for Mr Feelgood.
"The aim is to have 18 month off racing him at the top level in Australia and New Zealand," Anthony said. "We think he's the best horse you can hope to buy out of the U.S. to come and race here."
Mr Feelgood will spend three weeks in quarantine in the U.S. and then another three weeks in quarantine in Sydney before he can return to training.
"We can start working him about mid-November so the hope is he will be ready for the races about mid-January," Anthony said. "That gives us plenty of time to prepare for the Inter Dominion (starting on March 14) and the World Pacing Cup (April 26).
Mr Feelgood has won eight of 20 starts this year and earned $550,850, boosting his career bankroll to $1,259,599. Trained by Jimmy Takter, he lowered his lifetime mark to 1:49 when he won this year's Graduate final at the Meadowlands. (With reports from Adam Hamilton)
