Sam’s Illusion slipped up the pylons and captured the featured $16,000 condition pace at the Meadowlands Thursday night for his first win of the year.
The 4-year-old gelding paced the mile in a lifetime best 1:52.4, finishing 1 3/4 lengths ahead of Beautiful Stranger, with The Bartender, third by four lengths.
Sam’s Illusion, driven by Andy Miller and trained by Bruce Saunders, posted his first win in 13 starts this year. He races for Palumbo-Duff Stable LLC of Wyckoff, N. J. The son of Nobleland Sam was bred by Midland Acres.
