Driven from post one by Bruce Ranger, Savage Hall settled in fourth place along the pylons while Bumble B’s Sting (David Ingraham) emerged from the first turn with a clear lead, taking the field through an opening quarter mile in :28. As the field moved by the grandstand for the first time, Savage Hall was flushed out from fourth by Waterside Crown (Wally Hennessey) and began a first-over march as Bumble B’s Sting reached the half-mile pole in :59.3. Midway down the backstretch, Savage Hall pulled on even terms with Bumble B’s Sting before passing that rival and quickly opening up on the field, reaching the three-quarters split in 1:28.2. Savage Hall remained in full control of the race through the final turn and entered the stretch with a 1 1/2-length advantage, before coasting through the wire to score by nearly three lengths. Savage Hall paid $3.00, $2.60, and $2.40 for the win. Waterside Crown returned $3.40, $3.00 for second, while Rt Um Jim (Andy Santeramo) brought in $2.40 for third. Owned by Michael Kabnick and Thunder and Lightning Farms, and trained by Tom Beckette, Savage Hall has visited the winner’s circle in three of his last four starts. A son of Victory Dream, out of the Worthy Bowl mare Sos Virago, Savage Hall exits the Wednesday feature with a career record of 30 wins from 249 lifetime outings. (Pompano Park)
