Although trainer and co-owner Brent MacGrath has repeatedly stated he was not entering Somebeachsomewhere in next month’s Little Brown Jug, bettors wagering in the second Jug Future pool have made that world-champion 3-year-old colt pacer the 5-2 favorite, with the field (all other 3 year olds not currently eligible to the Jug) the second choice at odds of 5-1. Recent Battle of the Brandywine and Cane Pace elimination winner Badlands Nitro is the 6-1 third choice. Currently included among the “field” bet is Meadowlands Pace winner Art Official, who captured his Cane Pace elimination Saturday, Aug. 23, at Freehold Raceway. If Art Official should go on to win the Cane Pace final on Sept. 1, he would then be eligible to be a supplemental entry to the Little Brown Jug. Here is the complete listing of payoffs for the second Jug Future pool, which closed Sunday, Aug. 24.
