Schedule changes in 2009 for Lebanon, Northfield

The Ohio State Racing Commission approved Friday changes in the racing schedule at both Northfield Park and Lebanon Raceway, the latter of which includes conducting two weekends of live racing which conflicts with Scioto Downs.

Lebanon Raceway and the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association had reached an agreement in which the track would race twice a week beginning in mid-February and continuing through the first weekend of May (the Kentucky Derby is on Saturday, May 2). Lebanon will now also race the two weekends that coincide with the Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes, dates that go directly against Scioto Downs, which did not oppose the request.

The ORSC approved Northfield Park’s request to drop Wednesday nights in March and add Tuesdays. That schedule will be in effect through October.
