Scioto Downs has canceled its Thursday night racing card because of extreme heat conditions. Temperatures are expected to exceed 100 degrees in central Ohio Thursday.
Racing will continue, as scheduled, on Friday and Saturday evenings with post times at 6:30 p.m.
Next week Scioto will start racing with a matinee card on July 4 with post time at 1 p.m. Entries for Wednesday's races will be drawn this Saturday (June 30). After the holiday program, racing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday next week will be at 6:30 p.m.
Also, Bluegrass Downs in Paducah, Ky., has moved its post time back on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. The expected high on those days is 109, 108 and 105 degrees.
