Scioto talking about casino

Return Home
May 10, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

According to a story in the Tuesday, May 9, edition of the Cincinnati Business Courier, Scioto Downs is considering throwing its support for a proposed casino in downtown Cincinnati.

Queen City Gaming Entertainment, upset that its proposed casino was dropped by the Learn and Earn campaign, which wants to put slots at seven racetracks and in two downtown Cleveland locations, wants to get its own amendment on the November ballot that would call for a casino in Cincinnati.

According to the story, Scioto Downs would like gaming tables as well as slsot machines at the track, which is not included in the Learn and Earn plan. Queen City Gaming’s proposed amendment would include that.

The story says a media consultant for Scioto’s parent company, MTR Gaming Inc., has confirmed the talks between the racetrack and Queen City Gaming.

If the Ohio Secretary of State approves the ballot language, backers of the proposed casino will have to collect more than 3000,000 signatures to get the issue on the ballot.
