Scorpion Moon rallied from out of the pocket to get up in time and win the featured Open trot on Tuesday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. The race carried the night’s top purse of $24,000. Starting from post position #5 in a field of nine trotters at odds of 5-1, Scorpion Moon was hustled to the early lead by driver Jim Morrill Jr., a lead he then relinquished to Grain Of Truth in the front stretch. From there, the 9-year-old gelding from the Tracy Brainard barn sat in the pocket until the stretch, when he gunned by Grain Of Truth for the win by a length in 1:53:2. Dennis finished third. Scorpion Moon, sired by Armbro Scorpion, won for the 7th time in 16 2010 starts. The victory was the 67th of his career, with career earnings now topping $706,000. (Pocono)
