Newly elected Republican senator from Massachusetts, Scott Brown, is no stranger to harness racing and in fact has driven a winner in a charity race.
As it happens, the senator who upset Martha Coakley to score an historic win for Republicans in traditionally Democratic Massachusetts in the Jan. 19 special election to fill the seat long occupied by Ted Kennedy, is a personal friend of Gary Piontkowski, president of Plainridge Racecourse.
Brown's youngest daughter Arianna has also been part owner of a trotter. The trotter was a mare named Sugar Free.
