Scott A. Smith, 49, the brother of Standardbred breeders Senena Esty and Stephanie Smith-Rothaug, died Nov. 16, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Smith was a self-employed farmer for many years. He was born April 11, 1959, in Newark, Ohio, to Roger M. and Patricia Ann (Holton) Smith. He was an Eden Township trustee and a member of Eden Church of Christ, Utica FFA Alumni, Licking County Cattlemen's Association and Farm Bureau. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughters, Chelsea and Cassandra; sisters, Stacie (Steven) McDaniel, Senena (Jeff) Esty, Stephanie (Dr. Paul) Rothaug; and Shani (fiance Brian Reed); and nephews, Branden and Brody McDaniel. Visitation will be on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm and on Friday, Nov. 21, from 10-11 am at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, OH. A funeral service will be at 11 am on Friday, Nov. 21, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery. (USTA)
