Ashcos Scotty benefited from an ideal second-over trip and a strong three-wide move to prevail in the $8,000 feature trot from Pompano Park on Monday.

Driven from post five by David Ingraham, Ashcos Scotty dropped back to fourth place along the rail as post time favorite Absolute Resolve (Wally Hennessey) made the lead rather easily, taking the field through fractions of :29.2 and :59.3, before passing the three-quarter mile marker in 1:27.4 after a :28.1 third panel.

Following the first-over move by Sand Prince (Don Brainard), who was parked for the final three-quarters of a mile, Ashcos Scotty trotted into contention around the final turn before angling three-wide at the head of the stretch.

With his lead beginning to diminish, Absolute Resolve dug in gamely as the wire neared, but was unable to repel the outside charge of Ashcos Scotty, who would grab the lead in the final yards and prevail by a neck in 1:57.3.

Ashcos Scotty returned $8.80, $2.60, $2.60 for the win. Absolute Resolve brought in $2.20, $2.20 for second, while Trojan Hero (Rick Schaut) nosed out Sand Prince to grab the show spot, returning $3.40

Ashcos Scotty is owned by Anthony Chiniara of Pompano Beach and is trained by Leon Cable. The 10-year old son of Earl, out of the Flak Bait mare Sakra Monious, has won three of his last four starts while pushing his career bankroll over $330,000. (Pompano Park)
