Sophomore colt Search Engine continued his dominance in Indiana Sires Stakes competition Saturday evening, July 21, pacing to a 1:52.3 victory in the first of two $12,000 divisions. The win was his sixth consecutive and fifth in stakes action. Eden Burst stopped the clock in 1:53 to score an upset win in the second split. Search Engine and driver Mark O’Mara started from post six in the field of eight, and the favorites took command before the field reached the half. After shuffling second choice Rocket Fuel to second, the duo received every call until the wire. Jay Cross guided Rocket Fuel to a runner-up finish while Donttakeyourguns and Trace Tetrick were third. In the second division Neil Coleman raced 17-1 Eden Burst off the pace throughout the mile before grabbing the lead at the top of the stretch. Once in front, the Safety Patrol colt paced home in :27.1 to pick up his third seasonal victory. Mayflowermoonshine and Joe Putnam were second while Fun Time and Don Irvine Jr. rounded out the trifecta. Trained by Bobby Brower, Eden Burst knocked more than three seconds off his personal best mark.
