Sears wins two 2FP splits

Trinity Islands won the first of three $101,000 Bluegrass divisions for 2-year-old filly pacers Thursday afternoon at The Red Mile, scoring in 1:54.1 over a "sloppy" track. Brian Sears was in the sulky as the daughter of Jenna's Beach Boy won for the third time in eight starts, defeating Western Montana and Mind Boggling.

Steve Elliott trains the winner, who lowered her mark by more than a second, for owner Cuzzins Stable.

Sears won the second $101,000 Bluegrass split with Al's Girl, overcoming post eight to cross the wire first in 1:53.4. Calgary Hanover was second with Pop Diva third.

A daughter of Artsplace, Al's Girl is trained by Jerry Silverman for owner Jeffrey Snyder.

The final division went to Little Miss Dragon, who rallied late to edge favored Cabana Fever in the final strides. Trim Hanover was third in the 1:54.2 mile which was raced under brisk conditions when a cold front moved into the area.

John Campbell was in the bike behind the daughter of Dragon Again who is trained by Noel Daley for owner Adam Victor & Son Stable. The win was her second in three starts.
